An accountant by qualification, John joined the company in 1971 as Accountant, but quickly became involved in recruitment.
He was General Manager NSW between 1983 and 1991, before returning to Perth as General Manager WA and Joint Managing Director. He led the company’s expansion into Latin America in 2001 and is now Managing Director of the company. In addition, he leads the Construction and Engineering market sectors and is heavily involved in searches for senior construction executives.
John is currently based in Perth, but spends half his time in the Eastern states.

Greg joined Downing Teal in 1996 and has supported the oil & gas, mining, engineering, construction and energy sectors.
Currently General Manager Queensland, he delivers executive search assignments to clients on a national basis. Greg has also headed up Downing Teal’s business in Calgary, Alberta, with a focus on the mining, oil sands, engineering & construction sectors in Western Canada.
Before joining Downing Teal, Greg spent 20 years in the engineering, construction and energy sectors across client, consultant and contractor organisations. His experience ranged from technical engineering to management roles on major resource projects in Australia and PNG.

Ray joined Downing Teal in 2006 and applied his practical mining experience to successfully complete Executive Search and Recruitment assignments for our clients.
His prior career spanned 35 years of progressive senior operational management roles with top tier mining companies.
Using his ability to advise on, understand and link client prescribed talent and corporate values requirements, Ray has successfully sourced key roles for big and small organisations in Australia and overseas.
Typical placements have included Board, General Management, and Managerial level roles in mining operations, engineering, government and service related sectors.
Ray's seniority and capability in the Mining Industry is acknowledged by his award of Fellow Member of the Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. Ray lives in Perth.
Karen has 18 years energy and resources experience, 13 of these being in executive search sourcing technical and corporate professionals, for heavy industry across the Asia Pacific Region.
Karen has an MBA majoring in Oil & Gas and Post Grad Qualifications in HR from Curtin University and Robert Gordon University. Her clients include Operators, Service Providers, EPCM's and Consultancies across the oil & gas, mining, renewables, power generation, utilities, engineering, infrastructure, manufacturing and construction areas.
Karen is based in Perth however works with clients throughout the APAC region and liaises with candidates globally.
Ian specialises in recruitment services for the Australian and Asian coal mining sectors. Roles range from senior managers and executive leadership through to technical specialists for operational sites.
Project development teams for owners, contractors and developer organisations have also been satisfied. Ian has recently advised on and successfully delivered international recruitment campaigns for major Australian clients.
Lois joined Downing Teal to work across the company’s target sectors of, Mining, Oil & Gas, Construction and Defence. She has operated her own international executive search business for several years and has experience across multiple industry sectors and disciplines.
Lois has more than 15 years’ experience project managing research, executive search, and best practice end to end recruitment nationally and internationally in the mining, engineering and construction, infrastructure, utilities, oil and gas and tertiary education sectors.
Her consulting activities have included partnering with key decision makers to strategically source specialist talent to drive new business growth, cultural change and gender equity/diversity projects. These have been across multiple technical and corporate disciplines and levels, as well as fast paced site project resource recruitment.
Lois has an Honours degree in Psychology with an Organisational focus. She is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and was a Judge for the 2005 WA BusinessNews 40Under40 Entrepreneurial Awards.
Based in Perth, Ivan’s is focus on executive search and recruitment in defence, civil engineering & construction, resources and energy, and associated heavy industry sectors across Australia and Asia Pacific.
Since 2008, Ivan led research and talent mapping efforts, managed executive search process and facilitated the appointment of a number of executives, functional heads and senior technical professionals, for listed and private companies as well as venture capital organisations. He worked with Park Brown International and CTPartners from 2012, and returned to Downing Teal in 2015. Prior to joining search industry, Ivan led business operations in a complex federal government organisation and held functional leadership roles in strategy, marketing and business development within engineering design sector.
Darren joined Downing Teal in 2016 as a Consultant and has executed a number of searches with a particular focus on construction. He attained a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Australia.
Darren’s focus is on executive search in engineering construction, oil & gas, mining & metals, energy & utilities and associated heavy industry, across Australia and Asia Pacific. Based in Perth, he has been in executive search since 2010 and has worked in four major energy hubs.
Prior to becoming a Consultant, Darren led and managed research including market mapping, remuneration studies and a diversity & inclusion project for Asia-Pacific. He has also worked in leadership advisory assisting clients with leadership assessment and development, diversity & inclusion, change management, organisational culture, executive on-boarding, retention and remuneration.
Margaret joined Downing Teal in September 2011 and leads the National Executive Research Team.
Margaret chairs the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Events Committee in Queensland & is in her third term as a mentor for the AWRA (Australian Women in Resources Alliance) e-mentoring program. She is also an active member of WIMARQ (Women in Mining & Resources Qld) & WIS (Women in Safety).
